Hey! I’m George, Founder and Instructor at Flatpack
I've been a software engineer for almost a decade in which I've experienced a bunch of different roles, from control system programming to cloud engineering and web development. I have always enjoyed solving complex issues, but I my biggest passion has been in teaching.

I am an ex General-Assembly instructor and have taught software engineering all over the world to students of all backgrounds. I believe that giving people work remotel and flexibly is the future. Whether that's in a San Francisco co-working space, or at the poolside with a bottle of wine, we're giving our students the skills to take control of their careers and succeed!
THE PROBLEM WE WANTED TO SOLVE
It shouldn’t cost a downpayment on a house to learn
Students have traditionally paid hefty premiums (we're talking £13,000+) and had to relocate to prime (and expensive) cities to learn coding and technical skills at bootcamps or expensive universities.
Even then, these courses often consist of PowerPoint presentations delivered as lengthy and impractical lectures to classes of 40+ students. We’ve seen syllabi remain fixed for years, with students learning outdated techniques and technical theory from often inexperienced Engineers who happen to be available to teach.
We have even heard from graduates that they were sold university-endorsed boot camps that turned out to be little more than Udemy-style courses delivered by a large outside company.
We don’t believe this is fair or right for students and saw the need for change.

The Instructors encourage us to think and try to solve problems ourselves. If you have a problem, they get you to code it yourself. If you have an error, they help you understand what this error is. Amazing!
